Thoughts for Success: Mothers Don’t Just Leave a Legacy – They Are a Legacy
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers of the world. When I think of my own mothers (I’ve been blessed to have two) words cannot capture their meaning.

With COVID-19 lurking around every corner we could all use a bit of comic relief. It’s still completely legal to have a laugh with family and friends, watch a funny YouTube video (never thought I’d hear myself say this one 😉) and read a humorous book.
When it’s your first time, everything is exciting. Sure you’re nervous, but that’s a good thing, like the way you feel waiting in line for a roller coaster. Your knees are knocking and you’re thinking “I don’t know if I really want to do this.” Then you go on the ride and squeal, “Wheee! That was fun! Let’s do it again.”
These are uncertain and scary times. When confronted with so many unknown and frightening variables, it’s easy to put our dreams on hold and wait for conditions to become more perfect.
We had a shortened rodeo in Houston this year due to the coronavirus, but boy do these cowboys (and cowgirls) know how to ride. If you ever watch a real cowboy, other than how to look good in tight, boot-cut jeans, he’ll teach you a priceless lesson on how to ride your legal nurse consulting business.
Experience is a great asset, but the problem with experience is that it’s the slow path to success. As Vernon Sanders Law says, “Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lessons afterwards.”
After 38 years in business you would think that I can take it easy and let everyone else do the work. But if I’ve learned anything over these 38 years it’s that the rules of success only work if you do too. That’s why I always thought of myself as a working CEO.
One of my favorite quotes “You are your only limit” is such a universal truth that I could not find an author credited for it. This truth is so powerful that it can carry you through all the 2020 goals you set for your legal nurse consulting business.
I hope you’re enjoying this holiday season. The holidays always reconnect me to the appreciation of all the significant friends, family and professional colleagues I have in my life and how each has contributed in their own unique way to building me and my success.
We all have weaknesses. Yes, even successful people have them. One habit successful legal nurse consultants employ day after day is to live in their strengths.
