Got Your 2014 Resolutions? I’m Just Askin’

For 2013, my resolution was to see a world that is bigger and brighter than the one I saw in 2012. Not only did I see that bright world, but because I did, I managed to accomplish some bigger things than even I expected.

My Promise to Certified Legal Nurse Consultants for 2014

I’ve been mentoring Certified Legal Nurse Consultants for decades now, so you could say I occasionally repeat myself. And repeat myself I did in 2013. Tom says I don’t just repeat myself with CLNC consultants, I do it at home, at the office and sometimes even when I’m alone (LOL – I think). My response, “I only repeat myself PRN.”

The Happier You Are, the Happier You Are

I love the joy of the Christmas season, but I can’t help but notice that we are a society that’s becoming more and more obsessed with happiness at the expense of happiness. You can practically hear people thinking: “If I get this I’ll be happy. If I look like that I’ll be happy. If I drive this, wear this, watch this or eat this… I’ll be happy,” You know what I’m talking about, you’ve probably got your own “If I” working right now. Admit or deny. Mine is “If only I had more hours in the day…”

Tom's Tech Tips

Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: Here’s Wishing All Certified Legal Nurse Consultants a Good Old-Fashioned Christmas

Tomorrow is Christmas, and I for one, am really looking forward to it. As you know, Vickie and I celebrate the 12 days of Christmas, giving each other a gift a day for each of the 12 days, culminating on Christmas. The gifts are small (no Gulfstream G650 again this year) and so far the gifts I’ve been receiving are far better than the ones I’ve given (Vickie says the same about hers), but tomorrow’s the last day and I may, or may not, receive the best gift of all. I’ll just have to wait and see (or be the first to sneak a look under the tree).

‘Tis the Season – Joy to the World of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants

Christmas is just five days away and I’m so excited because I get to share it with my 4 ½-year-old niece. Reese is a bundle of energy and joy and her enchanting energy is heightened by the holidays. Remember the excitement you felt as a child on Christmas Eve? Everything was bigger at Christmas – the trees were bigger, the ornaments were bigger and the presents were bigger.

Are You Making Legal Nurse Consulting Decisions By Yourself?

Every Certified Legal Nurse Consultant makes decisions – daily, weekly and hourly. When we worked in the hospital setting many decisions involved matters of life and death. You may not think of the decisions you make for your legal nurse consulting business as a matter of life or death, but that’s where you could be wrong.

My Contributions to Texting Shorthand – WDYT?

I love texting. A friend of mine is so funny that just one simple text makes me laugh so hard that it’s the highlight of my day. But do you have any friends or Certified Legal Nurse Consultant colleagues who are “serial responders” eliciting the “Oh, not again!” response? Serial responders respond to every text, every “thank you,” “you’re welcome,” “yes” and “no.”

Tom's Tech Tips

Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: Yes We Can! Put the Internet in Our Pocket!

All Certified Legal Nurse Consultants and techie-types like the idea of Internet everywhere, but unfortunately it’s really not – yet. Moving around the city of Houston, the country and the world I’m often reminded, sometimes brutally, that when you need the Internet the most, you’re the least likely to find it.
