A huge thank you to everyone who took our survey “Are You Way Too Stressed Out?” A remarkable 3,312 of you took the time out of your busy day to complete the survey, and this high response rate highlights the seriousness of this issue to the nursing world.
My twin brother Vincent can regale you with stories of what a fraidy cat I was when I was a child. I was afraid of everything – escalators, heights, flying New Orleans cockroaches the size of dinner plates. Fear comes in more guises than just fear of giant bugs – fear of failure, fear of looking ridiculous and even more chilling, fear of success.
Certified Legal Nurse Consultant Divina Apolinario, RN, CLNC shares the importance of networking with everyone, including an ex-boyfriend who’s an attorney. That ex came in handy by giving her a referral and the inside track to three other attorneys!
Recently a number of Australian iPhone users woke up to find that their iPhones had been taken over by some miscreant. The phone was locked with a passcode placed on the screens as well as a ransom demand.
While flying to South Africa I watched the movie “Under African Skies.” The movie chronicles the victory and struggles of Paul Simon in recording his best-selling album Graceland.
If life is spinning out of control, summer is a good reminder not to take ourselves too seriously. It’s time to put aside your business books and Core Curriculum for Legal Nurse Consulting textbook (I can’t believe I just wrote that) and pick up something frivolous.
As the owner of my legal nurse consulting business I’m an entrepreneur and entrepreneurs are known to be risk-takers. I admit I probably fall into that category. Have you ever noticed that the more self-absorbed a person is, the unhappier they seem to be? I am blessed to have a great role model in Blanche, an 82-year-old friend, who is like my second mom. I call her the “Neighborhood Samaritan.” Since I was 15 years old I’ve witnessed how she loses herself in the service of others. Whether it’s her church, her friends or the neighborhood kids who visit every day, she always gives her full attention and passion to others in a selfless way. She tires me out just hearing about all of the good deeds she does for everyone on a daily basis. LOL!
