I was on a tear this week, tearing my hair out trying to insert a landscape-oriented page into a portrait-oriented document. Finally, after hours of frustration and a little practice, I discovered an easy way to do it. It involves giving yourself a break – a section break that is!
CLNC consultants often tell me that the reports written for their legal nurse consulting business can become quite long documents. If you’ve ever worked with a long document you know that moving around in that document can be a pain in the butt.
I’m a gadget guy. I love gadgets. Here’s one I think is stellar – Fuse Chicken’s Une Bobine iPhone stand. If you purchase the stand and the car adaptor, it will allow you to place your iPhone at a reasonable height in your car. That way, when you’re using your phone for directions, as would a busy CLNC consultant on her way to meet with a new attorney-client, it’s right where you can hear it or glance at the directions without taking your eyes too far off the road.
If you’re one of those CLNC consultants who took the passing of Windows XP pretty hard then I’m sure you’re doubly upset about the that Microsoft will stop providing “mainstream support” for Windows 7 on January 13, 2015. What does this mean to Certified Legal Nurse Consultants? Well, my advice is to keep calm and carry on.
Let’s face it. Passwords are the second weakest link in data security – people are the first. The reason people occupy that top spot is that people, CLNC consultants included, have lousy password security.
It’s summer vacation time and hopefully every Certified Legal Nurse Consultant is taking a break from their legal nurse consulting business and is out there having fun and sharing their photos on social media. But, there is one privacy worry that everyone, CLNC consultants included, should have and it’s one that many people rarely think about.
Recently a number of Australian iPhone users woke up to find that their iPhones had been taken over by some miscreant. The phone was locked with a passcode placed on the screens as well as a ransom demand.
That’s an easy question to answer – as long as you’re on Windows® 7 or above or the Mac® iOS. Meet either of those two criteria and the answer is any of them. Chrome®, Firefox®, Safari® and even Internet Explorer® are all terrific.
Writing this blog I have to admit that I am partial to the ScanSnap series of document scanners. On my desk I have both a flatbed scanner and a ScanSnap s1500. I use the flatbed scanner for photographs and large-scale documents. However, you have to manually place each page face-down so it’s time consuming but renders high-quality scans. I use the ScanSnap for receipts and other documents. The amazing thing about the ScanSnap is that any CLNC consultant can dump a 30+ page document into it, push the scan button and a few minutes later the entire document is scanned and ready to be emailed to an attorney-client.
