5 Productivity Applications for Certified Legal Nurse Consultants

Summer is swiftly coming to a close. So it’s time for Certified Legal Nurse Consultants to get productive. Here are 5 productivity applications recommended by the CLNC® Pros and me.

  1. Human Anatomy Atlas: “When writing reports for attorney-clients I use this program (and the app) to cut and paste illustrations into my reports. Then I annotate those images with Word for Mac® adding arrows and lines to point out particular areas of interest. It’s especially handy when creating a document that my attorney-client is planning to incorporate into a settlement brochure.”
  2. – Jane Hurst, RN, CLNC

  3. Office for Mac Home & Business: “This allows Mac users the ability to work in Microsoft programs such as Word® for developing reports and chronologies, Excel for spreadsheets and Outlook for managing multiple email accounts and contacts. It’s essential for CLNC consultants working on a Mac in a Windows® world. If you’re not a Mac user, get the Windows version.”
  4. – Jane Hurst, RN, CLNC

  5. PDF Suite: “Paper records are convenient for copying one page or organizing a section of a report. PDF Suite allows you to do the same with PDF files. It easily merges, splits and reorganizes PDF documents of any size. I use it to back-up my original PDF file sent from the attorney-client before I edit the report, extract specific records, add annotations and consolidate important sections.”
  6. – Susan Schaab, RN, BSN, CLNC

  7. QuickBooks®: “As your legal nurse consulting business grows, so will the complexity of your financials. QuickBooks allows you to organize your financials, create invoices, track payments and receivables, and generally keep your CLNC business organized. You won’t look forward to tax time, but you’ll be ready for it. This is a must-have for any CLNC business.”
  8. – Vickie L. Milazzo, RN, MSN, JD

  9. SnagIt®: “Sometimes a printout of an online journal article doesn’t capture the original page. SnagIt allows you to capture anything on your screen and you can even scroll down the page to capture an entire article. It also allows you to easily annotate the screen capture to point out critical items. Then all you have to do is save it in your format (jpg, pdf, etc.) of choice and email or upload it.”
