Are You Living Your Dreams or Just Dreaming Them?

31 years ago, when I dreamed of starting my own legal nurse consulting business, the dream in and of itself was exciting. But a dream can be nothing more than vapor and can even make us miserable if we are not acting on the dream. While a dream is the genesis of any undertaking, mindfulness in executing the dream is the stuff of what real CLNC® success is made of.

Go ahead and dream all you want, but do remember to stop and fill your mind with intention – intention of the actions you will execute. Then get out there and do it! Only then, when you’re actually taking action on your legal nurse consulting business, will you have the space to dream bigger.

I’m just sayin’

P.S. Comment here and share whether you’re dreaming or living your dreams.

  1. Vickie: You and your mentors are the best examples of living the dream. You chose wisely to become independent. Today, I am living the dream of practicing nursing independently. Someone asked me today if I enjoyed what I am doing as a CLNC® consultant? I replied with, “yes, I can depend on myself and my direction of where I want to go in life.” I am still tethered to working per diem, but I know without a doubt, I made the best decision of my life and career.

  2. I have to say that I am at this point dreaming. I became a CLNC® in 2011 but have yet to take the first case. I use the excuses of work, kids, new home, and illness in the family. But that’s all they are…excuses. The opportunities are definitely there as I have 2 attorneys now that would like my services. What is stopping me?…FEAR! Fear of failure!! But I am now reminding myself that I am only failing by not doing!! I hope I am not the only one out there that has these feelings. 2013 is the year of making my dream a reality!!

  3. Stacey, you will not believe how easy it is once you get your hands on those medical records and dive in. Sure, it is kind of scary, but you have a lot of Vickie’s mentors who give excellent advice if you need it. Once you get past that first case, the sky is the limit. You can do it!
