I learned from the institute that one step at a time will guide you in the right direction. My journey started in 2007. I am a Cuban rafter. Yes, I came in a boat through the Caribbean Sea. I lost 20 pounds just from seasickness. I arrived alive at the Texas border (since a shark didn’t eat me) and requested political asylum.

In my CLNC® business, I devote a lot of time with a new subcontractor. The process takes patience and hard work – from both me and the subcontractor. I take a lot of pride in my CLNC business and I expect anyone I bring on board to be respectful of that. Unfortunately, I’ve had situations where I’ve put more effort into rewriting cases or listening to excuses as to why something wasn’t done on time or completed as requested. In the end, it wasn’t time-efficient or cost-effective. It was taking more time away from my case load, and as a busy mother of three, I don’t have time to spare.
I have been a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant for 14 years now. The support I have received from the CLNC Mentors at the Institute has always been encouraging. In August, I was asked to review some medical records for a compassionate release request for a new attorney. I called the Institute and received much encouragement.
I have been a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant since 2010 and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had been a registered nurse for 17 years and was a very burned out administrator of an assisted living facility. I was not only the administrator, but also the RN case manager and I was on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In fact, I had spent my entire 17 years as a nurse with the demands of on call responsibilities.
In our lives there are many seasons, and with each season there is opportunity to passionately pursue our purpose. From the moment I was asked (while in the second grade) what I wanted to do when I grew up, I said I was going to be a nurse.
Referral is by far the best and fastest way to gain new attorney-clients and more cases for your legal nurse consulting business. Referral is not a gift. Referral business is something you have to earn. It is the result of providing excellent work product and excellent service.
In 1982 I faced the reality that I was unhappy with the direction my nursing career was taking. It wasn’t easy after putting hard work into becoming an RN, earning my bachelor’s degree, my master’s degree and working six years in the hospital, to find I was extremely disappointed by the career choice I had made. I’d gone in wide-eyed, thinking I could make a difference, even improve the state of healthcare, only to bump up against the reality that no matter how hard I worked, my efforts would never make a dent, much less an impact. I was also moving far too slowly toward financial success, and I was forgetting what it was like to have fun.
My career as a legal nurse consultant began more than 17 years ago. I was working at a hospital as a geriatric clinical nurse specialist and wound care consultant. In the fall of 2003, a defense attorney contacted me and requested that I review medical records for a hospital.
2021 is around the corner. One year filled with 365 opportunities to grow your legal nurse consulting business. Approach 2021 strategically with imagination, creation and innovation and you will experience a year that is even stronger than 2020.
