Live a 7-Day Weekend All Week Long as a CLNC® Consultant

Here’s something I’ll bet you didn’t know about me – before I started my legal nurse consulting business, I looked into being a cruise nurse. With that in mind, I invite you to listen to my opening speech from the 2013 NACLNC Conference Cruise.

Are You Living Your Dreams or Just Dreaming Them?

31 years ago, when I dreamed of starting my own legal nurse consulting business, the dream in and of itself was exciting. But a dream can be nothing more than vapor and can even make us miserable if we are not acting on the dream. While a dream is the genesis of any undertaking, mindfulness in executing the dream is the stuff of what real CLNC success is made of.

Tom's Tech Tips

Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: Certified Legal Nurse Consultants – It’s Time to Clear Your Cache!

The cache on your web browser is where the copies of pages from the various legal nurse consulting-related websites you’ve visited are stored. Each time you visit a website the browser is supposed to pull up the “cached” site while downloading the “new” site. This is to speed up your browser’s apparent performance. All browsers have a default setting that limits the size or amount of memory of this cache. And the more you surf the web or do research for your legal nurse consulting business, the more pages are stored in it. Consequently, the more incrementally slower it may become to load a page (as it looks for the old copy).

What Can a CLNC® Consultant Learn from a 4-Year-Old?

Tom may be Mr. Tech Tip, but I think the “techies” of the world need a real-world consultant like me. I find technology challenging, daunting and sometimes disturbing. For all the progress we’ve made moving forward, some things are even more difficult than ever.

CLNC® Alert: Sweeping HIPAA Rule Changes

A new 563 page modification to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) takes effect on March 26, 2013 with compliance by effected parties required by September 23, 2013. This is truly a sweeping rule change and Certified Legal Nurse Consultants should be aware of these changes for both their legal nurse consulting business and nursing practice.

Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: Word of Mouth Is the Best Way to Find Apps!

Vickie always says, “Word of mouth is the best referral technique.” I find word of mouth works in other areas as well. For example, there are literally millions of apps on the market for the literally millions of devices that use apps. When I’m out and about, I’m always glad to meet another iPhone junkie and share tips, tricks and apps with them. Like all of you busy Certified Legal Nurse Consultants, I don’t have time to sort through the App Store, read all the app reviews and, in an insecure fashion, worry about how securely those apps will treat my private data.

2013 NACLNC® Conference Photo Gallery and More

Ahoy! Thank you for making the 2013 National Alliance of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants Conference Cruise such a success. I loved hearing how much you learned from our speakers and seeing you networking with fellow CLNC Weekenders. It was such a blast partying with a purpose all week long with you.

Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: Screen Captures in Windows Made Easy

There comes a time in the life of every Certified Legal Nurse Consultant when you’ll want to capture an image of either your complete computer screen or just a pop-up window. When I’m providing tech support at LegalNurse.com one of the first questions I’ll ask is, “What error message did you get?”
