You probably know at least one person whose parents “set them up in business.” But let’s face it, most of us are not so lucky to have crazy rich parents and are on our own to subsidize our success.
In my New Year’s blog I encouraged you to set big goals for 2019. Yes, I believe in goals, and I also believe that one goal should drive many of the other goals you set for yourself and your legal nurse consulting business each year.
Welcome to 2019. How this year plays out will be largely influenced by the size of your legal nurse consulting goals. Are yours too big, too small or just right?
Opportunity rarely presents the way you expect it to – it’s often a master of disguise. Case in point – a new Certified Legal Nurse Consultant rejected an opportunity to consult on a legal nurse consultant job because it was outside of her specialty.
Do you ever long for EASY? Yesterday I sure did when my computer was behaving badly. My lifelines – Tom and my very expensive tech company were unable to come to my rescue and subsequently I was out of the computer business for six hours.
The comparison game is a trap. You can always find someone who has more than you do – more success, money, health, love or whatever it is you desire. And sometimes to make themselves feel better, people will find someone who has less (just watch Jerry Springer).
Mick Jagger famously sang “You can’t always get what you want. But… sometimes you get what you need.” I’ve found that to be true, but I’ve also found there’s a corollary – we often get exactly what we put up with (sometimes over and over).
I’ve always been more interested in surrounding myself with, and studying, successful people than studying people who fail. But unfortunately, failure is noisier than success and I witness one common failure trait so often that I can’t remain quiet about it one minute more.
Francis Bacon sagely said “A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.” Many of us associate an opportunity with the right set of circumstances.
Just when I thought I was maxed out and operating at full capacity, the universe threw a curve ball at me. I was left with no choice but to step up to the plate and face that curve ball head on. It’s in these situations that I summon my own personal Thought for Success “If you want the impossible done give it to a woman on fire.”
