We’re only 5 days into 2021 and, if you’ve already blown your New Year’s Resolutions, understanding these 5 myths of goal setting is guaranteed to get you back on track with what you desire for your legal nurse consulting business.
Myth #1. I’ve already blown it, so why bother now.
Every day is a NEW day and when it comes to your goals, they don’t care whether it’s January 1, January 6 or September 6. Every day is a new opportunity to start fresh. Focus on goals, strategies and action steps – not what went wrong. Yes, it’s one year, but it’s also 365 opportunities. Don’t beat yourself up when things don’t go perfectly.
Myth #2. If I don’t reach the goals I set for myself, I’ve failed.
Stop negative thinking. Failure is nothing more than a state of mind and when you’re in a success state you achieve goals you can’t even imagine. You are your primary limit for 2021.
Myth #3. I need to know where I want to be in 5 years.
You don’t have to know exactly where you’re headed in your legal nurse consulting business to get there. In fact, a few surprises or bumps on the road to success can be helpful and lead you to a higher level of success. Very few people can predict one year much less five. Create the goals that make sense for you today and reread myth #2.
Myth #4. I will be more successful if I set realistic and achievable goals.
Go ahead, be greedy. Set high expectations for your legal nurse consulting business. No outrageously successful person sets realistic goals. Audacious goals, whether you achieve them or not, feed the fire of desire. While you might miss the mark, you still have a shot at better than “realistic.”
Myth #5. I don’t have time to achieve my goals. I work for a living.
Modern man (and woman) has more free time than any generation before us. There’s a simple reason we feel that we don’t – it’s because we fill our free time with feel-good addictions. Put down your phone, take a break from social media, stop binge watching Netflix and notice how much free time you suddenly have. What you say “No” to is just as important as what you say “Yes” to. Where you focus is where you achieve results. We all get the same 24 hours in a day.
What will you do with yours in 2021?
Use these 5 myths of goal setting to create a new and improved 2021.
Happy New Day!
