CLNC® Success Story: I’ve Consulted on 64 Cases and Here’s How

Marcia Bell, RN, BSN, CAPA, CLNC, shares how, as a part-time PACU nurse, she’s not only testified in 26 cases within her specialty, but has worked on 64 cases as a CLNC® consultant. Marcia demonstrates that you can work behind-the-scenes or testify, whichever you choose and as much as you choose.

A Problem is Sometimes More Than Just a Problem

When a problem in your legal nurse consulting business rears its ugly head, what do you do? That’s right, you assess the problem, dissect it and get to work solving it. Recently I was doing just that when I uncovered an even more important problem, one that I had no idea even existed. Without that first problem, the second one could have gone undetected, creating huge amounts of damage before any of us knew about it.

Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: Tom’s Super-Secret Laptop Buying Tips

I’m finally getting ready to buy a new laptop. But, even I, Tom the Tech Tipper, find the market to be daunting. Do I buy Sony, Dell, Lenovo, some other big brand or do I build my own? Do I buy dual-core, quad-core or Marine-core? Should I get the biggest screen I can or limit myself to one that will fit through a door and/or on an airplane tray? Then there’s the whole issue of SSD, SIDS and ADHD.

Are You Singing the W-2 Blues This Weekend?

Are You Singing the W-2 Blues This Weekend?

If you’re scurrying to get your tax forms filed and you’re singing the W-2 Blues, you’ve got to watch this! Here’s an interview I did with KCAL in Los Angeles. Simply click on the link below if you’re ready to ditch the W-2 Blues.

Interrupt the Interrupter

I recently spent three hours in the air. By the end of the flight I was amazed at how much I accomplished during that time.

On the Road Again!

I’m on the road again and I confess I always envy the person who can travel with one rolling carry-on. That’s not me. I’m more like the British explorers who traveled with teapot, table and tent. Unless you’re flying Southwest Airlines where baggage flies free (free of airline meals and assigned seats too), my preferred style of travel is costly and inefficient. If you wish to avoid fees for checked bags, overweight bags and extra bags, I recommend you don’t do what I do. Instead, here are some tips from the experts in six convenient categories that I regularly ignore. Plus a few tips I’ve conjured myself from decades of travel:

Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: G is for Gadget and C is for Certified Legal Nurse Consultant

Is it a coincidence that Guy and Gadget both begin with the letter “G”? I think not. If you’re like most Certified Legal Nurse Consultants, everyone in your family has a phone, tablet or some sort of music or video player. As with any family, or legal nurse consulting business, the list of devices can grow exponentially. The more devices you have, the more likely that they’ll all be out of power at the same time. Vickie and I both have USB car chargers in our glove boxes, but ours, like almost all car chargers, have only one USB port and therefore can only charge one device at a time. That can create an issue when we’re both “down and out of power.”

Live a 7-Day Weekend All Week Long as a CLNC® Consultant

Here’s something I’ll bet you didn’t know about me – before I started my legal nurse consulting business, I looked into being a cruise nurse. With that in mind, I invite you to listen to my opening speech from the 2013 NACLNC Conference Cruise.

Are You Living Your Dreams or Just Dreaming Them?

31 years ago, when I dreamed of starting my own legal nurse consulting business, the dream in and of itself was exciting. But a dream can be nothing more than vapor and can even make us miserable if we are not acting on the dream. While a dream is the genesis of any undertaking, mindfulness in executing the dream is the stuff of what real CLNC success is made of.

Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: Certified Legal Nurse Consultants – It’s Time to Clear Your Cache!

The cache on your web browser is where the copies of pages from the various legal nurse consulting-related websites you’ve visited are stored. Each time you visit a website the browser is supposed to pull up the “cached” site while downloading the “new” site. This is to speed up your browser’s apparent performance. All browsers have a default setting that limits the size or amount of memory of this cache. And the more you surf the web or do research for your legal nurse consulting business, the more pages are stored in it. Consequently, the more incrementally slower it may become to load a page (as it looks for the old copy).
