Believing in yourself doesn’t make success easy. What it does do is make success possible. I know this because I’ve worked with and mentored tens of thousands of RNs who made it their goal to become legal nurse consultants. The RNs who succeed believe in themselves. Why? It’s the belief that gives them the courage to take the risks necessary to succeed.
Success in your legal nurse consulting business gives you benefits and perks that no other RN job offers, but on the path to success you can get so busy that you lose the connection to you. The more successful you are, the bigger the price you’ll pay – if you let that happen.
In Friday’s blog I discussed the importance of believing in legal nurse consulting success before you can achieve it. Let’s face it, belief is not always easy. Believing in yourself is a lifelong process. Even for me, after 36 years in business it still takes daily effort.
I grew up by the ocean. It seemed to me that everyone wanted to come to the ocean, but my goal in life was to live in the mountains. As a kid I used to hike in the Great Smokies, and as a young adult I took a backpacking trip every year.
The year was 1991. A young RN and the single mom of a three-year-old, with no support, I moved from British Columbia, Canada, to Harlingen, Texas. For the first few years I worked in the emergency department. I loved it, but with a tiny daughter, the shifts were hard to manage. In 1994 I moved into home health care.
