Believing in yourself doesn’t make success easy. What it does do is make success possible. I know this because I’ve worked with and mentored tens of thousands of RNs who made it their goal to become legal nurse consultants. The RNs who succeed believe in themselves. Why? It’s the belief that gives them the courage to take the risks necessary to succeed.
I can almost always predict which of my legal nurse students will be successful and which will not. The ones who already see themselves as successful – they’re already halfway there. The ones who have trouble seeing themselves as successful, it’s as though they’re scripting their own failure. Write your script to succeed and you’ll have a higher probability of doing just that.
Look to your strengths, not your weaknesses. Belief in yourself is a choice just like all the other choices you make every day – “Today, I’m going to make my bed. Today, I’m going to be successful.” Instead of “Today, I’m not making my bed. Today, there’s no way that I can succeed.”
Believing in yourself doesn’t make success easy. What it does do is make success possible. What do you do daily to believe in yourself?
