Opportunity Knocks: 10 Ways to Make Sure 2013 is Your Year for Big, Positive Change

Here we are, it’s February 20th and you’d like to say that 2013 is looking to be a banner year. That you made the career change you’ve been dreaming about. That you took a leap of faith and finally launched or expanded your legal nurse consulting business. If 2013 is starting to look like the same old disappointments as 2012, don’t despair, 2013 can really be your year.

Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: Upgrade to Windows 8 or Wait?

Windows 8 is out and, like every other operating system released by Microsoft, people either love it, hate it or just keep on with their old Windows OS. Several Certified Legal Nurse Consultants have asked me whether or not they should upgrade their computers to Windows 8. My answer, as always, is an unequivocal, “It depends.”

13 Fun Things to Do On the 2013 NACLNC® Conference Cruise

It’s hard to believe that the 2013 NACLNC Conference will be here before we know it! This is going to be a special cruise on the Oasis of the Seas, one of the largest ships afloat, and with so many activities you’ll never be able to do them all. We only have one 7-Day Weekend together, so here’s my not-so-short list of things every Certified Legal Nurse Consultant should try to fit in before the weekend is over.

Step Up to Step Out as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant!

When you step out to become a CLNC consultant you’re making the first and most important decision in your new career as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant. But stepping out also requires that you step up. This means that you’ve got to step up and embrace new thoughts to see yourself as a successful Certified Legal Nurse Consultant. Then you have to step up and embrace discomfort as you study the CLNC Certification Program and learn all kinds of new information that will challenge what you think you know.

No Plan B – Only Plan CLNC®

I just bought the new Van Morrison album “Born to Sing: No Plan B” as a Christmas gift for Tom and my best friend, Missy. (Shhhh! It’s a secret.)

Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: All Calendars Aren’t Created Equal – But They Can Be!

Certified Legal Nurse Consultants generally belong to one of three tribes: Microsoft, Apple or Google. Each tribe has its own native calendar. In the Microsoft world it’s Outlook, the Applers use iCal and the Googlers use Google Calendar. Medium to large law firms, for the most part, are members of the Microsoft tribe, while solo practitioners and small firms can be in any of the three.

Happy Thanksgiving to All Certified Legal Nurse Consultants

Thanksgiving is about taking one day to give thanks for all that we have now, all that we have had in the past and all the possibilities we have in the future. Some of us are most thankful for our family and friends, our health, the people we work with and the freedom to be who and what we choose.

CLNC® Success Story: Law Students Are Learning About Certified Legal Nurse Consultants!

Krista M. Bradley, RN, BSN, CLNC, shares that her cousin, a fourth year law student, learned about the CLNC Certification in law school, wrote a paper about it and recommended – at a family party – that she become a CLNC consultant. Krista also shares that she received her first case from another attorney even before she completed the CLNC 6-Day Certification Seminar.

Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: Don’t Let Your Computer or Your Legal Nurse Consulting Business Keep You Up at Night

Many of us work well into the night at our computers. Whether you’re working on projects for your Certified Legal Nurse Consulting business, something personal or just closing out your Facebook and email for the evening, you’re exposed to the full brightness of your computer monitor. If you’re like me, your computer is in a room with windows, which means either the computer or I am the brightest light in the room and contrast highly against the dark of night.
