It’s Nurses Week and with the COVID-19 pandemic, the world has finally caught on to what I discovered at age 18 when my dad was in the hospital for open heart surgery. While the surgeon was certainly important, it was the nurses who were the real heroes of my dad’s recovery. They were with my dad every moment, guiding him through a successful post-op recovery.
Those nurses cemented my decision to become an RN myself. They made a real difference in my dad’s life and the lives of every member of my family. What could be better than a mission like that for a career choice.
I’ve always been a champion of nurses and it makes my heart sing to witness how the COVID-19 pandemic has awakened the world to the gift of the nurses worldwide who put their own lives on the line and serve relentlessly each and every day.
Happy Nurses Week to the heroes of healthcare. This week take a moment to celebrate you and your nursing peers.
God bless nurses everywhere,

P.S. Comment and wish everyone a happy Nurses Week.
