Are you terrified by the sheer volume and total disorder of the files stacking up on your desk? What’s a busy Certified Legal Nurse Consultant to do? Easy. Get them out of view!
To be an effective CLNC® consultant you should have that one important case and only that one on your desk at any given time. This gives you not just a clear desk, but a clear focus.
Clutter of any kind − the clutter on top of your desk, on the desktop of your computer or the clutter of the mind that is being constantly reminded of all of the outstanding cases and deadlines will only distract you from the task at hand. Attorneys deserve your full attention and intention when you’re billing for their medical-related cases. And you deserve to work with a free mind.
It’s so simple, I never understood why more people don’t do it. You know who you are…
I’m just sayin’

This one really hits home with me, Vickie, especially the cluttered mind/distraction problem. I just discovered a great book called “18 Minutes: Find Your Focus, Master Distraction, and Get the Right Things Done” by Peter Bregman. It basically advocates a 5-minute planning session at the start of the day, a 1-minute check-in with yourself once per hour (assuming an 8-hour day) to make sure you’re on task, then 5 minutes at the end of the day to assess how your day went. Of course, there’s more to it, but that’s the gist. It’s already helping me to manage my time better. I thought I’d pass it along.
Hi Vickie,
I think you were looking at my desk!! How did you get in here??
