5 Reasons to Market Legal Nurse Consultant Jobs to Attorneys You’re NOT Interested In

Certified Legal Nurse Consultants just starting out often go straight for the legal nurse consultant jobs and attorneys they’re most interested in, such as the top medical malpractice attorneys in their areas.

Instead, you should first practice interviewing with, and exhibiting to attorneys you’re least interested in. For example, if you want to consult on legal nurse consulting jobs involving medical malpractice cases, you should practice marketing to personal injury attorneys first. Here’s five reasons why practicing where it doesn’t count makes sense:

  1. You hone your skills. Just like practicing a sport, the more you practice interviewing and marketing to attorneys, the stronger you become. Remember the words of Vince Lombardi, “Practice doesn’t make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.” Always make sure you critique yourself immediately after each engagement with an attorney and make it your goal to improve the next one.
  2. You build confidence. You won’t take it personally if an attorney says no and you’re out nothing if you don’t go home with legal nurse consultant jobs. But, along the way, attorneys (even the ones you’re less interested in) will hire you, and as they do, you’ll build the confidence that is only achieved through success. You’ll also realize that attorneys are easier to talk to than you might imagine and you gain the confidence needed to market to the attorneys you do want to do business with.
  3. You make connections. Whether you get legal nurse consulting jobs or not, you’re making connections with attorneys who know other attorneys. If you impress an attorney she’ll naturally be open to introducing and referring you to her colleagues.
  4. You stay engaged in your CLNC® business. The key to being successful in business is to engage it daily. When you’re less attached to the fear of not getting legal nurse consultant jobs you’re more likely to put yourself out there. In so doing, you’re creating the habit for consistently engaging your CLNC business.
  5. You boldly set fees. When you’re not vested in the outcome, you can comfortably quote and experiment with higher fee rates. Attorneys respect Certified Legal Nurse Consultants who don’t underprice themselves and will be more responsive if you value your own expertise. Starting out with high fees (and high quality legal nurse consulting work product) is a smart way to start a CLNC business.

So there you have it – five reasons to market to attorneys you’re not interested in. You’ll get the practice, they’ll never know you’re not focused on them, and you may even get the bonus of high-paying legal nurse consultant jobs!

Success Is Yours!
