5 Ways Attorneys Are Less Scary Than Physicians to Legal Nurse Consultants

To consult with attorneys for legal nurse consultant jobs you must first be able and willing to talk to them. Why am I stating the obvious? Because when first starting out in the legal nurse consultant occupation, many registered nurses are terrified of talking to and approaching attorneys.

5 Reasons Legal Nurse Consultants Aren’t Afraid to Talk to Attorneys

I confess, I too was reticent to talk to attorneys when I started my legal nurse business in 1982. Ironically, I wasn’t afraid to speak my mind to the people who had direct influence over my job, promotions and pay raises – hospital administrators, physicians, residents and nursing supervisors. But I still remember worrying in my first legal nurse consultant job interview that the attorney could hear my knees knocking. I survived that first interview and went home with a medical case recognizing that the more I talked to the attorney the less intimidating he appeared. It was fun to discover that even the most successful trial attorneys are people just like you and me.

While I had good relationships with, and respected, most physicians I worked with in the ICU, I was surprised to find I enjoyed working with attorneys more. Trial practice attracts attorneys who are busting with personality – how else could they litigate cases and persuade jurors? Attorneys are fun, entertaining and fascinating to be around.

In this video, “5 Simple Ways to Overcome Your Fears of Legal Nurse Consultant Job Interviews” I bust the myth of “scary” attorneys. Attorneys are not your adversary, they’re your friend, and when you embrace them as such you’ll recognize what a rich and rewarding business opportunity awaits you as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant.

Success Is Yours!

P.S. Comment and share why you’re not afraid to talk to attorneys.

  1. Why am I not afraid to talk to attorneys:
Since I have started my CLNC® consulting business I have met and talked to some interesting and kind attorneys who take the time to listen to me about how I can help them in their practice. They are every bit as you have described, Vickie – “fun entertaining and fascinating to be around.”
I remember times when I have talked to physicians who brushed me off when telling them their patient’s health is in danger. So, up the chain of command I go! These are the people to be scared of talking to.
