Attorney Addresses 4 Services Certified Legal Nurse Consultants Should Provide in Disability Cases

In this video, attorney Mike Nelson shares how legal nurse consultants are invaluable resources to attorneys in disability cases. In a disability case, the attorney’s first goal is the plaintiff’s best health outcome, both physically and psychologically. No one is better qualified to help the attorney accomplish this goal than the Certified Legal Nurse Consultant.

If you have not yet consulted on a disability case, here are four CLNC® services you can provide to disability attorneys:

  1. Analyze and summarize the medical records and comment on relevant disability issues.
  2. Educate the attorney about the disability in question and provide associated research and medical literature.
  3. Assess the treatment of the plaintiff and discuss options available to the disability client. This covers everything from available diagnostic tests to rehabilitation and treatment facilities.
  4. Confer with the appropriate healthcare providers to facilitate the best medical care.

Attorney Nelson prefers that the legal nurse consultant is tied in at each stage of the litigation process, and advises the importance of meeting with both the disability client, the MDs and other healthcare providers.

A special thanks to attorney Nelson for taking the time to remind Certified Legal Nurse Consultants of the importance of their involvement in disability cases.

I’m Just Thankful

P.S. Comment and share the legal nurse consulting services you provide in disability cases.

  1. Wow! What a great interview.
I would love to see more attorneys speak about their specialty and how CLNC® consultants provide the support for their cases.
