If you walked into my office you’d think I didn’t have much work to do. But trust me, I haven’t always been that organized. Years ago I had to hire an outside consultant to come in and help me figure out what was important and what was ready for the landfill. It turned out to be a more monumental task than I expected and taught me a lesson that lasted a lifetime.
No matter how organized you are as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant, there are always things that need to be purged from our lives and CLNC® businesses! Be vicious and let it go. I did yesterday – twenty bags later, I’m sure I still have some things to purge – but that’s another day’s project.
I’m Just Purgin’
P.S. Comment here and share the most outrageous, useless or oldest file, document or other thing you purged from your CLNC office and why.
I know how you feel, Vickie. I recently reorganized everything in my office – moving furniture and all the junk papers. Before I tackled the clean sweep, I was losing some important papers to me and I found them and then made a junk pile. I needed to do this for new incoming cases. Now, I have floor space and added another room for screening cases and added shelves.
Very cathartic, like you said.
I am about to purge my home office which is unorganized without adding a business component to the mix. What are some good resources of how CLNC® consultants organize their office space? I would love some ideas to consider for a neat, functional space. Thank you!
I had to respond to this blog again. I found out from searching through my files for tax season (I like to be ahead) that my files lacked some important papers, like invoices of money coming in. (Where did they go?) Yikes! I went through every attorney profile file and found what I needed and put it all together. Now, I know what invoice to whom has not been paid yet.
I am learning a lot about keeping organized files which makes good business sense.
