I don’t like hoarding. I naturally keep my house, closet and life slim and trim. I just found a pair of comfortable casual shoes I’ve been in search of for two years now. Finally I can get rid of the two pairs of old shoes that I’ve been holding on to (partly in hopes that the designer would bring them back) until I found a new pair. Don’t ask me why I held on to them for so long – it’s not like I’ve been wearing them or anything.
I’m beginning to remind myself of my Dad, and that’s really scary. Dad used to wear those brightly colored, beltless golfing pants. He wore them everywhere and he wore them forever. One day, he dragged me all over the city in search of pants that didn’t exist. Being the dutiful daughter, I went along for the ride. Countless stores later, he finally asked a salesman why they didn’t have any and the reply was, “Well sir, they went out of style about 10 years ago.” Dad laughed and said, “That’s about when I started having trouble finding them.” We quickly settled on some new, more neutral color pants.
Like Dad, I was holding on to these shoes and was not letting go. So what does this have to do with legal nurse consulting? Just like there will always be new pant styles and new shoes, there will always be new opportunities in the legal world for Certified Legal Nurse Consultants. Periodically, let go of old ideas and old ways of thinking and you just might open the door to those new opportunities. When the door is truly open, opportunity won’t even need to knock – it’ll just come on in!
