Am I the only one who’s noticed that civility is becoming a thing of the past? Whether we’re on social media or on a crowded airplane (think about the recent United incident) it’s more common today to encounter a level of rudeness that was unacceptable just ten years ago.
I for one refuse to let rudeness guide my beliefs and actions. The more rude a person is, the more there’s a call for civility. The alternative? George Bernard Shaw answered that question years ago when he said: “Never wrestle with a pig. You get dirty and the pig likes it.”
When someone tries to drag you into the mud, aim to hold yourself above the fray. I prefer to remain clean. How about you? Are you up for wrestling with pigs or prefer to choose the civil route instead?
Success Is Yours!
P.S. Comment and share whether you prefer to wrestle with the pig or prefer to rise above the fray?
Vickie,
I prefer to rise above the fray. When did minimal common courtesy go out of style? It doesn’t cost a penny and with a smile can make a difference. When someone is polite to me, I want to return the favor. When someone is rude, I need to make a point to respond pleasantly (not sarcastically, ha).
Have a wonderful weekend!
