Great Vacation Ideas for Certified Legal Nurse Consultants Who Missed Summer

Where did summer go you might be asking? If summer months felt like every other business month to you and you didn’t even dream about a great vacation, much less take one, don’t despair. There’s still time!

One no-brainer strategy for ensuring you get a vacation without a lot of the vacation planning hassle is to go back to a place that you absolutely love. Someplace where you can do as much or as little as you want because you’ve been there before 🙂 .

I have two favorite places in the U.S. that I never tire of going to. First is New York City – I’m energized by the intensity of life on the streets (Houston is a driving city) and the mixes of worldwide cultures. You can walk down 5th Avenue any day of the week and hear 10 or more different languages.

Then there are the shows… I’ve never met a Broadway musical I didn’t love (except maybe Hurt Locker – The Musical).

That’s why Tom is our musical director at home. If it wasn’t for him, my musical rotation would consist of nothing but the cast recordings of Wicked, Once, Spring Awakening, Jersey Boys and Rent. When they’re blasting through the house I’m transported back to a special moment. I guess it’s good that Tom tosses in enough Zac Brown Band, Broken Bells and Neko Case to keep us all (or at least him) sane.

My second favorite place is Napa Valley. It’s not just the wine – it’s the vines, the fertile landscape and the passion of the people who make the wine. This summer I’ve been lucky enough to have been invited to an outdoor party with some of my favorite wineries up on Pritchard Hill. We’ll have great wine, luscious food, interesting conversations and a perfect view of the valley. I promise to post photos 🙂 .

I’ll also bring home a few bottles of Cabernet and when I’m drinking a modest 4oz glass, I’ll be transported back to Pritchard Hill. Now that’s my idea of a great vacation – one that stays with you after you’re back home.

I hope you’re enjoying your summer.

P.S. Comment and share the fun things you’ve done this summer.

P.P.S. And if you’re wondering, I did hit Tom with that snowball in the top picture and NO, you won’t find snow in NYC this summer. LOL!

  1. I love a good vacation! Doing something else for a while allows my brain time to tackle that sticky problem without my conscious effort. Taking a mini vacation this week to see my daughter perform in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium with the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps. for Drum Corps International finals. Not my first time to Indy, but always a pleasure. And yes, I’ll be mentally taking along that sticky problem.
