The Institute’s “Action-Steps” Formula Worked for Me
by Guyolyn Smith-Ousterhout, RNC, CPUR, CLNC
I don’t know where to begin other than simply to say “Thanks.” I thought I would never retain all the information I received from the CLNC® Certification Program, let alone put it all into action. When I completed the program my quest was to have one client within a month. Initially, I was testing the formula I had learned. If I took daily “action steps” and set up my business exactly as the Institute taught, could it possibly work? I was in for a rewarding surprise.
From day one, I worked on my CLNC consulting business at least three to four hours a day. Within the next two weeks I had met with my accountant, produced my promotional package, hired someone to build my website and begun, hesitantly, promoting myself (the scariest part).
Less than a month since I started, I am having to request time off from my current position to meet the demands of my attorney-clients. My first legal nurse consultant job was from an attorney who was turning down some cases because of his lack of time to pursue the medical aspects of each case. This attorney’s wife, who works with another medical malpractice firm, also requested my card. The same day, I received a call from a workers’ compensation attorney who needed help. The next day I received an email from an attorney in the adjoining state who was desperate for a nurse to screen a case for merit. This attorney was referred to me by the first attorney.
This endeavor takes me on a course that is filled with fear and excitement. I am so thankful to LegalNurse.com for providing me with the knowledge, and most important, the encouragement to go for it and become a successful Certified Legal Nurse Consultant.
