Happy Halloween to All Certified Legal Nurse Consultants

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because it’s simple and uncomplicated. Of course I also love seeing the young children in costume and their innocence when they come to our door to collect their treats. Some of these trick-or-treaters are shy, some brave, some greedy and most are polite. One year, instead of candy, we gave out koosh balls – you would have thought it was Christmas!

The children were so excited to get a toy for a treat instead of the routine mini-Hershey’s bars, M&Ms and gummy bears, etc., that word on the streets spread pretty quickly, causing a run on our stockpile. We survived the night with a few spare koosh balls for LegalNurse.com staff meetings and thus a new tradition (pelting people for bad ideas, good ideas and sometimes for just not keeping up) was born!

Forget the children for a second – what kind of treats (or tricks) are you planning for your attorney-clients today? If they have kiddos they’ll have plenty of surplus candy floating around their law offices, so something else should be in the bag of treats (or tricks). Perhaps a free case screening? A bottle of their favorite wine or scotch? Or just a Halloween card re-tying the connection and reminding them that you’re still out there?

Successful Certified Legal Nurse Consultants know that Halloween is a time to be afraid of ghouls and ghosts – it’s not a time to be afraid of marketing. Make Halloween part of your marketing plan today and you just might be surprised what treats (or kooshes) await you.

I’m Just Sayin’

P.S. Comment and share the treats or tricks you plan for your attorney-clients this year.

P.P.S. If you want to hear me tell my own story (on NPR’s This I Believe) of how I got over my fear of Halloween treats and learned to step out click here.

  1. I made Halloween fudge for my attorney-clients. I’m passing it out today dressed up in my Halloween sweater. I passed some out yesterday, and the attorney was so surprised and grateful. It was fun.
