Vickie Milazzo Hosts International Delegation
The Institute for International Education and the US State Department invited Vickie L. Milazzo to meet with members of the Union of Women Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan, whose mission is to promote business development among Kazakhstani women.
HOUSTON, August 19, 2011 – Cultural differences aside, there are universal issues that face women starting businesses, whether they live in Kansas or Kazakhstan. CEO and Inc. Top 10 Entrepreneur Vickie L. Milazzo reflected on these issues when she met in her Houston offices with representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of Kazakhstan, the Union of Women Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan and the Independent Association of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan. Milazzo was chosen because of her support of other women as well as her success as a business owner herself.
“I was thrilled to be asked to share my experience as a woman business owner and to encourage entrepreneurship among women in the Republic of Kazakhstan. We discussed the things all women have in common and need to know when starting a business,” Milazzo said.
According to Milazzo, getting started is the easy part; the real challenge is growing a business once it is established. “Women have a tendency to sell themselves short. Once we get things up and running, we tend to be so happy with the idea that we run our own business that we just don’t focus on growth. But a growing business is a more exciting and energizing one to work on,” says Milazzo.
Vickie is the owner of Vickie Milazzo Institute, an education company she founded in 1982. Featured in theNew York Times as the pioneer of a new profession, she built a professional association of 5,000 members.
