Thanks to all the CLNC® consultants who attended the 2011 National Alliance of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants Conference Cruise. I so loved hearing how much you learned from our speakers and seeing you networking with fellow CLNC® pirates. It was a blast partying with you and spending a week together. I loved hearing your CLNC® Success Stories and am so energized by them.

Tom’s Tech Tips

Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: Master Your Calendar to Master Your Legal Nurse Consulting Appointments

Vickie and I are back from the NACLNC® Conference Cruise and, if you followed her blogs last week, you know we had a rocking time on the high seas! Our next Conference Cruise is guaranteed to be even more fun. That being said, here’s another quickie Tech Tip because I’m still trying to unpack and deal with all the detritus of CLNC® life that builds up in your inbox while you’re out of the office on a cruise having fun with hundreds of CLNC® consultants.

2011 NACLNC® Conference Cruise Update: REALITY CHECK! Back into the World of Airports, Starbucks and Email!

I’m heading to the airport to board our flight home from the 2011 NACLNC® Conference Cruise. This morning I had my healthy green tea, but what I really needed was a steaming hot cup of coffee with two added shots of espresso. If I didn’t have to be in the office tomorrow I’d probably take a couple of days off to rest up! As far as I know no one made a family member walk the plank so we’re all going home tanned, renewed and ready for another year of CLNC® success.

2011 NACLNC® Conference Cruise Update – Day 7: Our Last Full Day Onboard and We Get to Spend It Together!

This is it — the final day. It’s hard to believe the 2011 NACLNC® Conference Cruise is almost over! The past 6 days went by so fast it feels like we just got onboard! Luckily we’ve got another full day of great sessions from the CLNC® Pros to look forward to before it all ends. I’ve heard nothing but great comments about yesterday’s sessions and can’t wait to edit the audio recordings. I get to hear every speaker in their entirety and bask in their hard-earned success. These speakers work so hard all year long to deliver to you and they sure did! My deepest gratitude goes out to each and every one of you.

Why Certified Legal Nurse Consultants Can’t Go Back to 1961

One of my favorite Broadway musicals is Jersey Boys. I’ve seen it five times and have had the pleasure of sharing it with many friends. Two of the lead characters, Frankie Valle and Bob Gaudio strike a deal to collaborate and share everything 50/50. They sealed their deal with a “Jersey Contract” – also known as a handshake. This happened in 1961, early in the group’s history – a time which brought us many, many hit songs including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.” Their Jersey Contract thrives today, as does a bond of friendship between these powerful musical talents.

I recently entered into a Jersey Contract with the owner of a company. I’ve known him for a long time and always felt we had a bond that transcended business. I was thinking we’d be like Frankie Valle and Bob Gaudio.

I always joke that I like to break the rules and here I was, violating one of my own, which is to have a contract in every business relationship. Questions and issues that should have been covered in a contract came up and needed to be resolved.
