Thoughts for Success: Mothers Don’t Just Leave a Legacy – They Are a Legacy
Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful mothers of the world. When I think of my own mothers (I’ve been blessed to have two) words cannot capture their meaning.

With COVID-19 lurking around every corner we could all use a bit of comic relief. It’s still completely legal to have a laugh with family and friends, watch a funny YouTube video (never thought I’d hear myself say this one 😉) and read a humorous book.
When it’s your first time, everything is exciting. Sure you’re nervous, but that’s a good thing, like the way you feel waiting in line for a roller coaster. Your knees are knocking and you’re thinking “I don’t know if I really want to do this.” Then you go on the ride and squeal, “Wheee! That was fun! Let’s do it again.”
I love all kinds of art and wasn’t quite sure what to expect of the “The Art of the Brick.” which recently closed at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The artist is an ex-attorney, Nathan Sawaya, who left a comfortable position at an NYC law firm to concentrate on something he was totally passionate about – creating art out of Lego® bricks.

Within the last couple of weeks the coronavirus has changed our world dramatically. Some of us are on mandatory lockdown and most of the rest of us have imposed voluntary lockdowns on ourselves.
We had a shortened rodeo in Houston this year due to the coronavirus, but boy do these cowboys (and cowgirls) know how to ride. If you ever watch a real cowboy, other than how to look good in tight, boot-cut jeans, he’ll teach you a priceless lesson on how to ride your legal nurse consulting business.
Over 38 years of owning and operating a business, I’ve been graced with many honors and awards. The one that is most personal and special to me – the Hope Award for Ambassadorship by Komen – is so because of my Mom.
One of my favorite Broadway musicals is Hamilton written by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Sure, it’s funny that someone would conjure up a hip-hop and rap musical about the first secretary of the U.S. Treasury Department.
I’m celebrating my birthday early this week and want to thank all of you who sent the fantastic cards, emails and presents. Your generous thoughts, prayers and messages mean so much to me. (Whoever sent the 2005 Chateau Petrus Pomeral… you really shouldn’t have.) Also, I would love to share what Tom has planned, but this blog is rated G. Suffice it to say, “What happens in Texas, stays in Texas.”
