How to Quickly Derive the Big Picture to Improve Legal Nurse Consultant Productivity

Every medical-related case you analyze begins with the big picture. Only when you understand the essence of the case can you efficiently drill down to the relevant details for optimal legal nurse consultant productivity.

Details mean nothing without context. No big picture, no context. In the CLNC® Certification Program I teach new legal nurse consultants to first review summary reports (e.g. discharge summary) when analyzing the electronic medical records (EMR). You don’t start at page one of the records and review sequentially. This will only create extra work for you. Starting with a review of summary reports often provides vital clues to the date and time of the relevant incident and creates efficiencies in your detailed review of the dates and times surrounding the incident.

The next time you start on a new legal nurse consultant job for an attorney, make it your goal to understand the essence of the case instead of first getting mired down in the details. Once you understand the big picture your legal nurse consultant productivity will soar.

Success Is Yours!

P.S. Comment and share your strategies for improving legal nurse consultant productivity.

  1. Thank you, Vickie!
This is great information to remind us of. I am working on a very large case right now and this is where I will start my review.
