Honestly, I practiced saying my rates many times before I actually had the chance to say, “I charge $150 an hour for most services and require a ten hour retainer fee. $250 per hour for expert witnessing.” I practiced just like you said to. I said it in the car, the shower, my office. I wrote it down and left it on a pad next to me, just in case I was tongue tied! And you know what? When the time came, I was ready! I experienced no hesitation from the attorney end of things. “Great, I have 2 cases to send you.” Vickie, thanks for knowing your stuff, and passing it on to me!
Good for you, Susan!!! I find it extremely difficult to discuss our rates!! But my plumber, landscaper and hairdresser don’t seem to have a hard time with it!!!! We are definitely worth every penny and we need to believe it!!!!
