RN Chooses Legal Nurse Consulting Because He Wants More Payoff

Yesterday I talked to an RN, Michael, who shared that he dreaded going to work and that’s why he signed up for LegalNurse.com’s CLNC® Certification training program. He has eight years of nursing experience and is unhappy with the little amount of payoff he gets from his RN job. He wants more for himself.

If we’re honest (like Michael), we would all admit that we expect payoff in our nursing careers and we should. When I left my RN job at the hospital to grow my legal nurse consulting business I did so to attain the payoff (financial, emotional and intellectual) I wasn’t getting at the hospital for my nursing expertise. Upon receiving my Master’s in Nursing I didn’t even get a raise of one single nickel. That day I understood I was going to have to be responsible for the future of my nursing career. I could not count on hospitals to take care of me.

When it comes to your nursing career it’s okay to expect payoff. But I’m also a believer in giving to someone who is not in a position to give anything back. The payoff is the emotional satisfaction of giving for nothing in return. Since I am a business expert, I love giving back to young, emerging business owners. For you it may be volunteering to brighten an older person’s day (which I also love to do). If it’s been a while since you focused on something other than your personal needs or your legal nurse consulting business, take a moment to give of yourself to someone who is not in a position to give back. The universe will bless you with a different kind of payoff. After all, tis the season!

I’m Just Sayin’

P.S. Comment and discuss the payoff you get from your RN job.

  1. Nursing has changed for the worse. Each department has their policies for their specialty. They forget the whole patient. Like an ortho surgeon does his day surgery which pulls into a longer and later procedure and then overlooks other needs the patient has (example: diabetes). Nurses, too, are not looking at the patient and using the nursing process. Either they are too cowardly to speak up to these doctors, or schools are not putting out skilled nurses.

  2. Congratulations to Michael, RN for taking his first step in changing his nursing career as a CLNC® consultant. It is a life changing step for the better.

Yesterday I had an impromptu interview with a potential attorney-client when I was taking brownies to his office. He questioned me about doing this business all alone. I let him know I am not alone as there are thousands of CLNC® consultants I can get help from. He is giving me 5 cases in the next couple of months and is recommending me to his father to provide CLNC® services for his firm.
