Everyone loved my dad and that’s probably because he loved people so much. It was very unusual to hear him say anything negative about a person – even a person who didn’t do right by him. He would always laugh and say, “I’m a lover, not a fighter.”
Dad’s beautiful view of people has served me well in my legal nurse consulting business. And I believe Dad’s philosophy can help all Certified Legal Nurse Consultants, especially today, in a world and at a time when rudeness and negativity are considered entertaining, and even normal, behaviors.
While I can be both, when people around me are trying to pick a fight, I invoke my dad’s words, “I’m a lover, not a fighter.”

It’s more blessed to love than argue. I always remind myself to look on the inside and draw from that en-grafted quietness and confidence acquired from my 20 years of ICU clinical practice experience which built inner strength in me to always keep calm in a stressful environment. Now as CLNC® consultant amidst a turbulent and bustling age, I strive to understand other people’s perspective first, then seek to be understood; knowing that my honor is my power.
