Two Certified Legal Nurse Consultants Share Their Favorite Holiday Gifts for Attorneys
All Certified Legal Nurse Consultants are thankful for their attorney-clients on this blessed Thanksgiving day. And yes, it’s that time of year already – time to start shopping for holiday gifts for your attorney-clients.
Certified Legal Nurse Consultants Susan Schaab, RN, BSN, CLNC and Suzanne Arragg, RN, BSN, CDONA/LTC, CLNC don’t wait until the holidays to give gifts.
Susan says: “Gift baskets aren’t just for Christmas. I send my attorney-clients edible treats on St. Patrick’s Day and the 4th of July and occasionally I surprise them on Halloween and Arbor Day. The more obscure the holiday, the better the surprise. I have received a few referrals based on my Irish whiskey gifts on St. Patrick’s Day alone!”
Suzanne knows the power of a simple “thank you” all year long: “No matter how many years you’ve worked with an attorney, always say thank you for the work. Expressions of appreciation don’t have to be memorialized with gift cards, expensive dinners or flowers. Sending small gifts or even a hand-written thank you card can be just as effective as an expensive gift.”
From years of sending and receiving gifts to and from attorney-clients, vendors and CLNC® consultants, I can tell you that a gift you’ve spent a lot of time selecting or curating can get lost in the plethora of other gifts an attorney-client receives during the busy holiday season.
Susan makes sure her gift never gets lost in the crowd by shopping for her attorney-clients’ pets. She says: “The way to an attorney-client’s heart is often through their dog. I always make a note of the attorney’s pets and include a special treat for the pet in any gift basket I send. Lily and Max may never give me a case, but I have their loyalty and the tail thrashing bruises to prove it.”
Now that’s creative!
