As the owner of your legal nurse consulting business there are so many doors open to you that aren’t open to RNs in the hospital. Why? Because as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant you’re in the driver’s seat.
Certified Legal Nurse Consultant, Wendy Augello, RN, BSN, CLNC shared, “I feel like a door is opening. It is up to me to take the steps and walk through the door. I have spent my whole career being told what to do but feeling like I had very little power to control my destiny. I have always strived for excellence but have often felt discouraged. Working every weekend and most holidays, I can look back to over 20 years of missed moments with my family. I felt like my life was slipping by, and for what? A pin, a bad back and sore feet. From this day forward, it is up to me. I will fail at times. I will make mistakes. But I will also learn. I will grow. I WILL SUCCEED!”
As Wendy suggests, we are so privileged to be in that driver’s seat that it is almost criminal to be in anything other than a state of gratitude. Many days my reality is that being a CEO doesn’t mean “Chief Executive Officer.” It means “Controlled Entirely by Others” or “Chief Everything Officer.” When I have days like that, I have to remind myself to get back into the driver’s seat and kick it into gear. I love that I still get to learn and grow. Yes, I will and still do make mistakes too, but after all – that’s why I launched my legal nurse consulting business to begin with.
What about you for 2014? Are you driving yourself or just driving Miss Daisy?
