We all think we’re immune to commercials and billboards, but there’s a reason companies spend huge sums of money to advertise their products. They know the more you’re exposed to what they have to sell, the more likely you are to buy.
A 2013 study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal and a 2012 American Journal of Medicine study both show that leaving a hospital against medical advice (AMA) more than doubles a patient’s risk of death. Leaving a hospital AMA also triples a patient’s likelihood of readmission within 30 days.
There comes a time in the life and career of every Certified Legal Nurse Consultant when you will be faced with the question, “Shall I upgrade my phone or just my operating system?” Today I’ll address the new Apple® iOS 7 and the new iPhone 5s and keep it short and sweet.
I have the privilege of knowing most of the CLNC consultants in the NACLNC Association and they are one of the most diverse groups of professionals I’ve ever met. It’s the diversity in their CLNC businesses that is the clue to the first step you will want to take in launching your legal nurse consulting business.
I’m all for authenticity and I love that the 4,000 plus Certified Legal Nurse Consultants feel like they know me. I’m not one to be a fake nor do I trust people who are remote and untouchable. I also like being accessible to the CLNC® consultants I service. At the same time, I don’t believe in letting it all hang out either.
My most memorable case involved a 21-year-old Portuguese speaking woman who was about to have her second child. During the C-section closure, the patient sustained an injury to her bladder which resulted in the development of a vesicouterine fistula and vesicovaginal fistula. She suffered for five days without being able to communicate her needs, pain or fear to the medical staff. She was eventually transferred to a tertiary care hospital but had to undergo a hysterectomy to repair the injury to her bladder. The failure to recognize the injury lasted five days.
I’m wired for action, and I want you, as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant, to be wired for action too. But before you take action, you have to understand that action is most relevant and will serve you best when you know yourself.
I love my iPad® and I’m sure that any Certified Legal Nurse Consultant with an iPad feels the same way. I’ve really taken to it, whether I’m proofing the CLNC® Online Certification Program, watching movies or reading books. It’s simple, easy to use and accompanies me anywhere I need a large format screen but not a computer or iPhone® (think Rome, Kigali or Chengdu). What I do not love about my iPad is typing on the onscreen keyboard.
“The Strategy That Will Fix Health Care” is an intriguing and thought-provoking article published in the October issue of Harvard Business Review
A defense verdict was rendered after three days of deliberation in the 5-month-long trial of Michael Jackson’s survivors versus his promoters.
