Certified Legal Nurse Consultants – Celebrate Independence Day for All of Us!
We all know the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Ben Franklin, who put his freedom and life at risk by helping write and sign the Declaration is famously quoted as saying, “The Constitution only guarantees you the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.” As Americans we’re lucky to be free to pursue the lofty goals of life, liberty and happiness, and pursue them we do, in so many different ways.
Today, celebrate your independence by appreciating life in all its precious forms. Cash in on your right to liberty by taking the first step out of a stagnant job, addiction or toxic relationship. And pursue your happiness in whichever way pleases you most.
The closing paragraph of the Declaration is less well known:
“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”
As Americans, we all owe each other a duty to uphold that pledge, not just today, but every day.
What will you do today, to honor and celebrate not just your Independence Day, but the independence of all? Whatever you choose, make it something we can all be proud of.
