Tom’s Tuesday Tech Tip: Certified Legal Nurse Consultants – Put Down the Phone and Text!

For some Certified Legal Nurse Consultants texting is a primary method of communication with CLNC® subcontractors, attorney-clients and friends. Myself, I’m more likely to pick up the phone and call you or send you an email than I am to text you. I think texting is a great way to communicate but when I text there’s nothing I hate more than getting involved with a “last worder.” You know what I’m talking about. Someone to whom you text “thank you” and they immediately text back, “No problem.” They always have to have the last word. As you’ve probably discovered, they exist in the email world too. Short of saying “Siri, tell her to STOP IT NOW!” the only way to put an end to their relentless chain of texts and emails is to go “radio silent,” stop engaging and wait for them to text themselves out (or find another victim).

Enough about my personal peeves. If you’re one of my many CLNC® amigos who love to communicate via text, you probably keep your smart phone right next to your computer keyboard when you’re working. That way you can dash off those pithy missives to your favorite attorney-clients as soon as they come to mind. If you don’t have the benefit of Siri, here’s a way to speed up the process. It’s called the “One keyboard” and keeps your iPhone® right where you can see it and track all those important Twitter convos.

You simply slap your iPhone onto the cradle provided, connect to the keyboard via Bluetooth and voilá, you can now switch back and forth between typing on your iPhone and computer at will. No need to lose any time by having to reach for the phone to text, you just switch to iPhone and type into your App of choice – Twitter, Facebook or dare I say it, text. The keyboard connects to your computer via USB so it’s self-powered and according to Matias’ website, works with iPads®, Android® 3.0+ smartphones and tablets and even certain Blackberries® (in case someone is still using one). They make this cool keyboard for both Macs and PCs too. All I can say is, “Now why didn’t I think of that?”

Keep on Techin’,

Tom

P.S. Comment and share how you use texting in your legal nurse consulting business.

  1. Tom – as always, thanks for your Tech Tips!! I have to admit that I am one of “those people” who like to have the last text and I am very good at it. I will have to get that keyboard so I can stay texting when I am working! Thanks for sharing!
