“When I requested a 50% retainer, the attorney said, ‘Not a problem, you obviously know what you’re doing.”

A week after returning home from Vickie’s CLNC® Certification Seminar, I received a call from an attorney who previously wanted to use my CLNC services. I had hesitated in the past because I didn’t know what legal nurse consulting was all about. Since completing the Seminar, I realized that fear was what held me back.
Now, I scheduled a phone conference with the attorney to discuss serving as an expert witness on a products liability case. I positioned myself just like Vickie taught us and sure enough we discussed all the things she said would come up in an interview. I literally had my Core Curriculum for Legal Nurse Consulting® textbook out as I was talking to the attorney.
I was well organized and remained in control of the conversation by asking for everything I needed before further case discussion: the medical records, case theme, attorney’s expectations, deadline and budget. Once I obtained this information on the case, I quoted my fees with ease. To close the deal, I used the letter agreement from the
CLNC Certification Program, and he quickly agreed to my terms. When I requested a 50% retainer, the attorney said, “Not a problem, you obviously know what you’re doing.”
I want to stress this. I was able to ask the pertinent questions and showed the attorney that I knew what I was doing because Vickie’s CLNC Certification Seminar gave me the necessary confidence and knowledge to gather the information and win the attorney’s respect and state my fees with confidence. Vickie’s case examples are also invaluable. When I review the Core Curriculum and my notes, it is the examples I remember most.
Thanks to Vickie, I had a clear, precise plan before I started, I followed my plan and closed the deal professionally. Most important, I learned the value of believing in myself and my strengths. “Believe in yourself, and others will believe in you too!”
