I began "tuning up my voice" immediately after receiving my CLNC® Certification in the fall of 2006. In order to do so, I had to return my brain to high school where I competed in the event of "Broadcasting" for the speech team and was an actress in dramas and musicals years ago. In putting my CLNC® presentation together, I made a special effort to remember the words of my speech coaches and drama instructors. Back then, I was told that I spoke too fast and the final words of each sentence ended with a high pitch tone making me sound like a "chicken." I shared this laugh with my husband and my son, asking them to listen to my presentation. I requested they write down specific areas where rushing or "chicken" sounds were noted. This helped me more than recording my presentation, because I was placed under the stress of making the presentation to people, rather than to a recorder.
