Vickie, this is outstanding and sound advice. Finding balance and success in your life is about doing things consistently. I totally agree with you. I'm always looking for new, successful people to associate and network within my professional and private life. As a Social Media enthusiast and a Wound Care Nurse, it’s in my best interest to surround myself with successful professionals, friends and entrepreneurs. My plan for 2010 is to complete my RN and take the CLNC® Certification Program, pass the exams. I also plan to open my own Consulting firm. The only way to successfully do that is to surround and consult with successful people. Thanks Vickie.

Bravo, Vickie. You described "The Law Of Attraction." If a person stands here and complains that he wants to be over there, that is all he will get. He will stand here forever complaining about not being over there. If he compounds that problem by attracting and joining a lot of other people over here that want to be over there, and they all complain, it's a guarantee that none of them will ever get over there.

There is a lot of work involved in getting away from the crowd. I know, as I am in the process of doing so. We are lucky that we have Vickie and the other mentors to guide us. Vickie was the real maverick in 1982. She became successful without a template to follow. She had a vision and followed it.

It is now our jobs to have our own vision and work toward that goal. Vickie will help, but we have to help ourselves first.

Vickie, this is a literary masterpiece and should be front page news, or,
at least, the subject of your next book! Controversial? Oh, maybe so,
for those in chronic denial!! Priceless...thank you.
Loved the comments from Sandra & Theresa.
Plan to see you in Nashville 2010.
OKC, OK.

My parents always told me "You Are Who You Hang Out With." My ex-husband always said " If you lay down with dogs you will wake up with fleas." If you want to have growth and success in any goal you may have in life, you have to quit talking and start doing. I call the constant talking about your dreams the "Gonna Dooos." Talking isn't doing. I was 38 years old with children still at home when I went back to school to start my nursing career. Many friends and family members could not understand my drive to continue my education working towards my Master Degreee in Nursing. I talked to many friends and co-workers who said they wanted to go back to school but came up with every excuse why they couldn't. Of course they all hung out together complaining constantly. I would tell them the time goes by anyway why not take action to achieve your dreams. Now, 20 years later, I have a successful nursing career working clinically and with a thriving Legal Nurse Consulting Business. Many of the people I tried to mentor are now out of work and having difficulty finding a job. A few that did go on to school have actually called me to thank me for the advice and encouragement. "It Works When You Work It."

There is an LPN I work with who is going on a job interview today. I asked her what she would be wearing. She said that she doesn't have anything "fancy" but she does have "a really nice pair of jeans that don't really look like jeans and a button-down shirt." I said, "Never, never, never wear jeans. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression." She said, "Well, if I had the money, I'd go to Wal-Mart and get some nice pants, but I don't." You can't want more for someone than they want for themselves...
