Google Desktop 5.9 and later is compatible with 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Vista. To see if your computer is running 64-bit Windows, do the following: Open System by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, then click System and Maintenance and then click System. Tom, when I had XP, I used Google desktop and I loved it! It organized all of the things I never seemed able to and it also was so quick at finding things. Well then, I got this new computer and it has Vista on it....(I won't even go there). Well, I tried to download Google Desktop onto this computer and I guess I'm not able to use it with Vista. It's heartbreaking! I loved that thing! I could find anything! Even if I just put one word in the search box, it would still pull up all of the documents that contained that word.
