Vickie Milazzo's Thoughts for Success

Thoughts for Success: You Can’t Avoid the Unknown, So You May as Well Embrace It

I’m always mystified by RNs who are afraid to start even a part-time legal nurse consulting business. I’m not talking about quitting your RN job at the hospital and taking a great leap of faith into the unknown. All you have to do is use your four days off a week to develop your legal nurse consulting business at a pace that’s comfortable for you.

Vickie Milazzo’s Thoughts for Success on Embracing the Unknown

I started my legal nurse consulting business part-time while working a full-time RN job at the hospital. I started with one attorney and one case and built from there. Yes, I was facing the unknown, but it wasn’t scary because what is life full of if not unknowns?

While on safari in Kenya one of my guides would greet us each day saying, “Let’s see what the day has in store for us.” We never knew what was out there but we always looked forward to the discovery. Each day never failed to deliver amazing experiences. Today, I’ll often wake up Tom with that same enchanting phrase – “Let’s see what the day has in store for us.”

None of us knows what awaits us. The unknown and the surprises that go with it enrich our lives. There is no life without challenges, wonder and astonishment.

Sure, bad things can happen when we step out into the unknown, but I believe worse things happen to our souls when we don’t. The unknown is coming your way whether you want it to or not. So why be afraid? Go ahead, embrace the unknown without fear and you’ll be better equipped to stand up to it.

Success Is Yours!

P.S. Comment and share whether the unknown stops you from stepping out for what you want and why.

  1. My dad, who I have missed dearly for the past 35 years, always said, “There are no guarantees for the day.” He was so right. Make the most of every one of them. This moment is the only one we have.

  2. I love this post, particularly because so many things have happened in my life that I never saw coming, even this week.

I am so grateful though to be taking a leap of faith and “stepping out” into the unknown. I did my CLNC® Certification this morning and I am now so proud to be joining you elite group of amazing individuals, and I am looking forward to what the future has to hold.
