People often ask me, “Vickie, if you knew then, what you know now, would you have started your legal nurse consulting business in 1982?” Depending on the day of the week my answer ranges from “Absolutely!” to “Absolutely not!”
None of us ever knows what’s ahead when we start a business. After all, you’re working with people – attorneys, CLNC® subcontractors, vendors and employees. With people come all the issues and warts that go with being human – childcare issues, marital problems, mood swings, bad hair days, communicable strep and the occasional projectile vomiting, just to name a few.
With people also come integrity, loyalty, collaboration, enterprise, collective genius, friendship, laughter and joy, just to name a few.
Business is like life. Whether it’s marriage, having children or starting your own legal nurse consulting business, it’s unlikely you’ll know what you’re getting into before you get into it. 33 years ago I wasn’t mentally or intellectually prepared for all of the challenges I face today as the owner of LegalNurse.com.
The more we get into our businesses, the more we are able to deal with the challenges that come with them. I believe we’re not meant to know the future because then we might never go there and what a shame that would be.
I’m Just Sayin’
P.S. Comment and share whether or not you would like to know your future.
Glad you did start your CLNC® business because I would not be here and happy as I am!
