Thinking About Waiting to Become a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant? Think Again!

An RN attending the CLNC® Certification Seminar shared that an attorney has been badgering her for five years to become a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant through LegalNurse.com. When I asked her, “What took you so long?” I was expecting her to say something like, “I got married ” or “I was recovering from an accident,” but instead she said, “I thought the program was expensive.”

Unable to get into her mindset I shook my head in shock and disbelief. I responded, “Think of all the money you’ve lost by not jumping on that opportunity five years ago. What’s expensive is not the cost of the CLNC Certification Program. What’s expensive is not seizing the opportunity right in front of you.

In 1982 I was motivated to leave my RN job at the hospital to pursue my legal nurse consulting business full time because the more I consulted with attorneys part time, the more I appreciated that every hour I gave to the hospital I was actually losing money. I did a little math and there it was right in my face, the painful recognition that every day I delayed leaving my RN job at the hospital, I was losing money. So I did it – I left my RN job and my friends at the hospital, never once looking back.

I’ve had nurses tell me they’ve been wanting to become a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant for 10 years (and longer). How much do you think that has cost them? What is it costing you and what are you waiting for?

P.S. Comment and share what motivated you to stop waiting to become a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant.

  1. I worked so hard as a nurse manager for a federal facility that I was having pelvic spasms from the stress and needing physical therapy. To top that off I had to be available sometimes one hour before or after my tour started causing me to have to constantly reschedule or cancel my appointments for therapy. I finally said to my husband if I’m going to be working this hard I may as well be working for myself so that I can do the things I need to do for me and my family.

  2. It took me a while to come to my lily white senses before I became a CLNC® consultant three years ago. You are right Vickie, the expensive part is not doing it. Time is money. And what better opportunity to work as an RN at home, away from stress and hostilities? If you are willing to do the work, the return on investment (ROI) is much greater than the investments. Money is not everything, being a CLNC® consultant has made me a better person.

There are many businesses one can start but the cost can be hundreds of thousands of dollars. Been there and done that!

There are other programs that cost less and what you get is cheap information. I have talked to other legal nurse consultants (not CLNC® consultants) who were disappointed in their training and cannot do this or that; meaning, most will not testify or provide many other legal nurse consulting services.

Why not learn from the original pioneer who blazed the trail?
