Got a Pebble in Your CLNC® Boot?

This year three Certified Legal Nurse Consultants independently shared that they were unhappy with the performance of a legal nurse consulting subcontractor. My advice – let them go. Years ago, a sage woman-friend, Blanche (who’s now 82-years-young and wise), advised me to remove a pebble from my boot. After hearing me out while I complained about a problematic subcontractor she said, “Vickie, until you remove that pebble from your boot, you’ll continue to be agitated by it.”

She was right. I was the one stressing over the project, not the subcontractor who was failing to deliver. So I followed her advice and removed that pesky pebble.

Every day I remind myself that I am surrounded by amazing people – in my life, my legal nurse consulting business and my relationships.  But occasionally, even I get a pebble in my boot. When I get that pebble I hear Blanche’s voice and I follow her advice. Once I do, I’m happier and lighter.

What pebble do you need to get rid of as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant to expand your CLNC business? Is it in your CLNC business, your life or simply your own personal pebble?

P.S. Comment and share how you remove pebbles from your boot.

  1. I have to admit that I too have high expectations for myself to meet my attorney-client needs. I would expect the same value of work from any subcontractor. Time is of the essence and if you have to re-do a lot of work from a subcontractor, what is the point of hiring one? Ouch – that kind of pesky pebble can hurt.
