Where Is the Most Dangerous Place to Call Attorneys?

Yesterday I overheard a young woman breaking up with her boyfriend while on the toilet. I felt like I was invading her privacy even though she’s the one who chose to bring this conversation to a semi-public forum. I was happy that it wasn’t anyone from my office and I didn’t want to hear more of the exact details so I washed my hands and got back to work.

Privacy aside, it’s common knowledge that there are more germs on a smartphone than on a toilet seat. And as nurses, we know that a toilet seat is the last place you want to be sitting whether we’re using our smartphones or not. Why risk adding more germs to that already contaminated phone by making phone calls from the restroom or risk dropping it into the toilet?

Whether it’s at the courthouse, hospital or at home, it’s not just unhealthy, but like the woman breaking up with her boyfriend, you also risk sharing your confidential CLNC^® business matters with whoever’s just on the other side of that stall door.

Have you ever talked on your phone with an attorney-client, spouse or friend while sitting on the toilet? I’ll fess up – I’ve done it even though I know better. What was I thinking at the time? Whatever it was, I obviously wasn’t thinking very clearly, but at least I was at home, not in a public space. How about you?
