Thanks, Vickie!
You are a true, positive, supportive and productive role model and leader in our profession.
The most beneficial thing to me is the professional atmosphere you provide for growth and learning.
Denise Masters RN, CLNC Texas Your seminars contain information that is beneficial to nurses in all areas of nursing – tools to utilize in your professional life as well as your personal life.
Carla Kitten RN, CLNC Texas After returning from the NACLNC® Conference I want to offer you a sincere thank you, Vickie, for all you've taught me over the years since I attended one of your early conferences. I've been a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant for over 5 years and been in private practice for over 3 years. Last year, I only worked 9 months, and earned $55,000, more than I ever earned working as a clinical registered nurse, and I have the added bonus of being my own boss. Vickie, you taught me how to deliver a quality work product. You should see the respect that attorneys convey to me. It's priceless! And to think I was afraid to leave my safe cocoon of clinical nursing and start my own consulting business because I was afraid of failure.

- Why should I become certified as a CLNC® consultant?
Your CLNC® Certification is evidence that you have mastered a complex body of specialized knowledge. More importantly, the trademark CLNC® Certification will give you a competitive edge over other consultants and help you build a profitable legal nurse consulting business more quickly.
- How long is my initial CLNC® Certification valid?
The initial CLNC® Certification is valid for two years.
- How is the CLNC® Certification different from other programs?
The CLNC® Certification is the only certification that requires an extensive course of study in legal nurse consulting as an eligibility requirement. The combination of legal nurse consulting education, your nursing knowledge and experience, and the CLNC® Certification will give you the competitive edge when marketing to attorneys and insurance companies. In addition, as long as you remain certified, you will receive personalized coaching and mentoring from successful Certified Legal Nurse Consultants through the Vickie Milazzo Institute's CLNC® Mentoring Program.
- Do I need to use the ® after my CLNC® certification mark once I become certified?
No, the ® after the CLNC® certification mark throughout our literature and this website indicates that the CLNC® certification mark is a federally registered certification mark belonging to the Institute. You will simply use the CLNC® certification mark after your name, as in Judy Smith, RN, CLNC.
- Are actual test questions available for review?
Vickie Milazzo Institute does not make test questions available for review. Because test questions can be used for more than one exam administration, distributing such materials would compromise the security of the items and the fairness of the exam.
- When do I receive my test score?
For the computer-based exam, test results will be available on the computer screen at the completion of the exam. For the exam administered at the CLNC® 6-Day Certification Seminar, you will be notified within two weeks. Test scores will be released only to the candidate.
- Who may learn about my CLNC® Certification status?
Vickie Milazzo Institute will release your certification status to a third party, but will not provide any details, such as test scores, unless you give permission in writing.
- What if I need to retake the exam?
If you do not receive a passing score on the exam, you may retake the exam. There is no waiting period for retesting, but Vickie Milazzo Institute recommends that you allow enough time to study and prepare again. Different forms of the examination will be given.
Unsuccessful candidates who wish to be retested must reapply to Vickie Milazzo Institute, resubmit all applicable fees and documentation and reestablish eligibility. Unsuccessful candidates may submit a copy of their "fail notice" in lieu of resubmitting the documentation forms, however, they must submit a new exam application.
- How often can I retake the examination?
You may retake the examination as often as needed to successfully complete it.
If you are taking the exam to renew your certification, please keep in mind that you must successfully complete the exam prior to your certification expiration date to avoid any lapse in your certification.
- Can I appeal these policies?
Any request to waive any policy of Vickie Milazzo Institute regarding eligibility or administrative issues must be received in writing within 60 days of the incident being appealed. The correspondence should contain a detailed account of why the policy should be waived. All decisions will be provided in writing. FAILURE OF THE EXAMINATION IS NOT APPEALABLE.
- Can I be dismissed from the examination?
You will be dismissed from the test administration or have certification withheld for any of the following reasons:
- Failing to present both a photo and signature identification and an active RN license
- Using unauthorized aids during the exam
- Not following testing directions and procedures
- Creating a disturbance
- Giving or receiving help on the examination
- Attempting to remove notes from the examination room
- Impersonating another candidate
If you are dismissed for any of the above, you forfeit any testing fees.
- How do I renew my CLNC® Certification?
Visit the Renewing Your CLNC® Certification section.
